Shanghai 2010: The World Expo
A Photographic Essay
Lois Conner
The New York-based photographer Lois Conner has been working in China since the early 1980s. She first visited Shanghai in 1984. The following is a small selection of work that she made during a visit to the Shanghai Expo in July 2010. We previously published some of Conner's work on the eve of the 2008 Beijing Olympics: 'Beijing Reconstructs: the Photographs of Lois Conner'. Other photographic essays by Conner to have appeared in recent issues of China Heritage Quarterly include: 'A Photographer in the Garden' on the Garden of Perfect Brightness in Beijing; a series in the September 2009 issue that introduced T'ien Hsia to our readers; and a series in the March 2010 issue on Shanghai.
